A 32-kilogram, 700-gram Java Volla fish was caught in the net of a fisherman while fishing in the Sundarbans. The fish was sold for 3 lakh 12 thousand taka.
On Saturday evening (December 14), when Delwar Hossain, a fisherman from Pashmemari village in Gabura Union of Shyamnagar Upazila, returned with the fish, Abu Musa, the owner of the Rohon Fish Wholesale Market in Munshiganj, purchased the fish.
Fisherman Delwar Hossain mentioned that they had obtained permission from the Kobatakh Station of the Satkhira Range of the Sundarbans and went fishing in the area. Last Thursday afternoon, while fishing in the Batula River of the Satkhira Range, they caught the 32 kg 700 gm Java Volla fish, which was sold for 3 lakh 12 thousand taka.
It is rumored that the Java Volla fish is used in the production of life-saving medicines.
