Maruf and Barshan Among Young Cricketers Who Excelled in HSC Results

The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under 11 education boards were published on Thursday. Among the candidates were several young athletes from Bangladesh’s sports community — including a few emerging cricketers under the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Several players from the Youth Asia Cup-winning squad achieved commendable results this year. Promising pace bowler Maruf Mridha passed with a GPA of 4.25, while leg-spinner Wasi Siddiqi secured a GPA of 4.0.

Another talented pacer, Rohantadoula Barshan, also passed with good marks, though he did not disclose his exact GPA. All three cricketers remain on the BCB’s radar — Maruf and Wasi are currently associated with the High-Performance (HP) Unit, while Barshan is working his way back from injury.

Meanwhile, women’s national team pacer Marufa Akter, who sat for the exam from the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), unfortunately failed in Geography. Out of 159 students from BKSP, 147 passed this year, marking a 92.45% pass rate, with six students achieving GPA-5.

BKSP operates secondary-level education in its regional centers, but HSC courses are offered only at its main campus in Savar.
