The ‘July Mass Uprising Day’ will be celebrated in the country on August 5. On this occasion, the government has declared a national general holiday. As a result, all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, including banks, financial institutions and the country’s two stock exchanges (DSE and CSE) will be closed on that day.
Immediately after the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on July 2, Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and other regulatory agencies have also issued separate instructions.
What institutions will be closed?

Banking activities will be closed:
On July 17, Bangladesh Bank said that transactions will be closed in all scheduled banks across the country on that day. Check clearing, client transactions, some e-services and branch activities will be closed.
Holidays for NBFIs and other finance companies:
On July 21, the central bank said that all NBFIs will also be under the holiday. Services such as leasing, microfinance, consumer finance, etc. will also be closed.
No transactions in the stock market:
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) said that there will be no transactions on DSE and CSE on August 5. Investors have been advised to complete necessary activities in advance.
Bangladesh Bank’s advice:
Bangladesh Bank and other institutions have asked customers to complete their transactions before the holiday and have instructed to keep alternative communication or helplines open so that customer service is not disrupted.
